Pioneering a Different Future for Women's Health
A new approach to women's health. Connected care. Genuine collaboration. Support that goes beyond the consultation room.
At Oceana The Women's Health Project, we're challenging the fragmented approach to women's healthcare and working towards something different β a more connected, progressive and truly individualised model of care.
Whether you're navigating fertility challenges, preparing for pregnancy, experiencing the complexities of perimenopause, managing ongoing health concerns, or simply feeling bewildered by changes in your body that nobody seems able to explain, we believe you deserve more than isolated appointments and unanswered questions.
Rethinking the Way Women's Healthcare Works
Different disciplines. Different expertise. Equal respect. One connected healthcare journey.
At Oceana The Women's Health Project, we're working towards a different model of women's healthcare,
one built on collaboration, continuity and the belief that women deserve a connected team of practitioners, not a collection of disconnected appointments.
Too often, women are left navigating their health alone. They move between GPs, specialists and other healthcare professionals, carrying information from one appointment to another, trying to understand different recommendations and wondering who is looking at the bigger picture.
I believe there's a better way.
As a qualified naturopath with a background in registered nursing, I bring a combination of clinical experience, naturopathic knowledge and a whole-person approach to women's health.
I don't believe naturopathic healthcare should be viewed as an afterthought, nor do I believe any one discipline holds all the answers.
GPs, specialists, naturopaths and other healthcare professionals bring different training, expertise and responsibilities. Their roles aren't interchangeable, but their knowledge can be complementary.
My role is to contribute my expertise, help connect the pieces and become an active member of your healthcare team.
If you already have practitioners supporting you, I can work alongside them, with your consent, sharing relevant information, considering existing treatment plans and contributing naturopathic care within my professional scope.
If you don't yet have the right practitioners around you, I can help you identify where additional expertise may be valuable, discuss appropriate referral pathways and support you in building a healthcare team suited to your needs.
That doesn't mean replacing your GP, diagnosing conditions beyond my scope or directing the work of other practitioners. It means recognising the strengths of different disciplines and helping you access appropriate care.
And importantly, I don't believe that support should end when your appointment does.
Whether you're navigating fertility, pregnancy, perimenopause, chronic health concerns or symptoms you haven't yet been able to make sense of, my aim is to provide continuity β helping you understand your options, prepare for important healthcare conversations and adapt your naturopathic care as your circumstances change.
This is both the foundation of my approach today and the vision I'm building towards: a more integrated model where practitioners communicate, women are active participants in their healthcare decisions, and support follows them through life's changing stages.
I don't want women to feel they must choose between conventional medicine and naturopathic care. I want them to understand how both can contribute, appropriately and collaboratively, to their health.
Because the future of women's healthcare shouldn't depend on finding one practitioner who can do everything.
What integrative healthcare means to me is bringing together the strengths of different disciplines, without losing the importance of time, curiosity and critical thinking.
Time to listen. Time to question. Time to investigate. Time to make connections.
I value scientific enquiry, evidence and clinical reasoning. I believe recommendations should be examined critically, regardless of whether they come from conventional medicine, naturopathy or traditional approaches to health.
Integration isn't about assuming every approach is equally effective. It's about recognising where different forms of expertise can contribute, understanding their limitations and making informed decisions together.
For me, truly integrative healthcare begins with collaboration, mutual respect and keeping the woman at the centre of her care.
It should be about bringing the right people together, with you at the centre.
Why Oceana The Women's Health Project?
Because what I'm building was never intended to be just another clinic.
The name Oceana reflects my lifelong connection to the ocean, nature and the Mediterranean roots that have shaped so much of who I am.
But it's The Women's Health Project that speaks to the future I'm working towards.
I chose the word project deliberately.
To me, it represents something evolving. Something that brings people, ideas, knowledge and different areas of healthcare together with a shared purpose.
My ambition is to build more than an individual naturopathic practice. I want to help create a collaborative women's healthcare community where practitioners contribute their expertise, women are supported through different stages of life, and education, connection and continuity extend beyond the consultation room.
Oceana The Women's Health Project is the beginning of that vision.
Not simply a place women come for healthcare, but a project working towards changing how they experience it.
What You Can Expect When You Work With Me
Your health story deserves more than a quick look at your symptoms.
When we work together, I want to understand not only what you're experiencing, but what may be contributing to it, how it's affecting your life and what you've already tried.
We begin with a comprehensive exploration of your health history, current concerns, lifestyle, nutrition, medications, investigations and the different factors that may be influencing your wellbeing.
But understanding your health is only the beginning.
Together, we work towards a clear, personalised plan.
Depending on your needs, this may include nutritional strategies, herbal medicine, lifestyle interventions, reviewing existing pathology results and identifying where further medical assessment or specialist input may be appropriate.
I'll explain my recommendations, why I've made them and how they fit alongside any medical treatment you're already receiving.
And we don't simply create a plan and leave you to figure everything out.
Your progress, questions, challenges and changing circumstances all matter. Through follow-up consultations, we can review what's working, reconsider what isn't and adapt your care as your needs evolve.
Where other healthcare practitioners are involved, I welcome appropriate communication and collaboration, with your consent.
My aim is for you to leave our consultations feeling informed, involved in your healthcare decisions and clearer about your next steps.
Because good healthcare isn't simply about giving someone a treatment plan. It's about building a therapeutic relationship where they feel heard, respected and supported.
I Don't Simply Match a Symptom to a Herb
Quite the opposite.
Becoming a naturopath didn't mean leaving my nursing brain at the door.
My years in healthcare taught me to ask questions, recognise patterns, think critically and understand that what appears to be a straightforward symptom may have several contributing factors.
I bring that same clinical curiosity into my naturopathic practice.
When a woman comes to see me, I'm considering her symptoms, medical history, pathology results, medications, nutritional status, lifestyle, stress, sleep and the wider circumstances influencing her health. I'm asking questions.
What might be contributing to these symptoms? What has already been investigated? What might have been overlooked? What evidence supports the options we're considering? And when is another practitioner's expertise needed?
Modern medicine often needs to divide the body into specialties. That can be invaluable.
But the woman herself doesn't divide into departments.
Her gut doesn't exist separately from her nervous system. Her hormones don't exist separately from her sleep. Her nutrition doesn't exist separately from her energy. And what's happening in her life doesn't suddenly stop affecting her physiology when she walks into a medical appointment.
Stress is a perfect example.
Women are still too often told, βIt's probably stress,β as though that ends the investigation.
For me, that's where another question begins.
What is that stress actually doing to her body?
I don't want to use stress to dismiss a woman's symptoms. I want to understand how it might be contributing to them, while remaining alert to other possible causes.
Stress may not fit neatly into a specimen jar, but that doesn't make its physiological effects any less real.
This is why my approach isn't simply about recommending a herb or supplement for every symptom.
Sometimes nutritional or herbal interventions may be appropriate. Sometimes further medical investigation or specialist assessment is the more important next step. Often, different approaches can complement one another.
I don't believe any one practitioner has all the answers, and I don't expect to.
My responsibility is to recognise the limits of my expertise, contribute my own clinical knowledge and work collaboratively with the other practitioners supporting a woman's health.
Because good healthcare isn't about having a remedy for every symptom.
It's about asking the right questions, recognising when to look further and bringing the right expertise together.
